Nancy Alice Preston, age 104, died peacefully at 10:30a.m. on Saturday morning, June 11, 2011 under the ministrations of Grand Lake Hospice at the Otterbein St. Marys Retirement Community, where she had resided since 1992.

Born to the late Jacob and Lillie Mae( Coil) Boroff in Mendon on April 28, 1907, she graduated from Mendon-Union High School and Ada University, and spent more than 40 years teaching in Mercer County and then Celina's public schools.

She married Homer Harlan Preston on March 12,1932. They had two sons, David, born in 1939, and John, born in 1941.

She was a member of the Eastern Star, St. John Lutheran Church and, with her husband, 50-year members of the Hopewell Grange.

Alice Preston was preceded in death by her husband, in 1992; their son John, in 2008, and by four brothers and three sisters. Surviving are their son, David, who lives in France; two grand-daughters, Christina Preston Likness of Pensecola, Fla., and Alicia Anne Preston of Arlington, Va.; daughers-in-law Alexandra Learned Preston of Washington, D.C., and Anne Buckingham Preston; a sister-in-law, Goldie Ballinger of Celina, and two "adopted kids," Jerry and Joan Sielschott of Decatur, Ind.

She has donated her body for medical research to the Ohio State University College of Medicine.
