Chloe's obituary was published in The Daily Standard on 14 October 1996 as follows:

"Chloe Ann Esmonde, 55, 545 Summit St., Celina, died at 8:33 p.m. Saturday of injuries sustained in an automobile accident near New Bremen.

She was born Sept. 26, 1941, in Celina, to Emery and Helen [Nelson] Brown. Her mother, Helen Dorsey, survives in Celina. On March 11, 1961, she married Ken Esmonde, who also died in the automobile accident.

Other survivors are four daughters and their husbands, Karri and James Gray, Kendra and Brian Stetler and Kate and Brad Laffin, all Celina, and Kim and Dana Kugel, Angola, Ind.; a daughter-in-law Carol of Celina; two brothers, Larry Brown, Van Wert, and Ned Brown, Bloomington, Ind.; two sisters, Joan Sams and Margie Sherrill, both Celina; and 11 grandchildren.

Deceased are a son Ken, who also died in the automobile accident and her stepfather, William Dorsey.

She owned and was the broker at Century 21 Master Key Realty, Celina. She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church and Phi Beta Psi Sorority, both Celina, the MED Foundation of Community Hospital, Coldwater, the Auglaize-Mercer, Ohio and U.S. boards of realtors, and was the local representative for the Jerry Lewis Telethon and Children's Miracle Network. She was a graduate of Celina Senior High School

Services are at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the church, the Rev. Linden Damschroeder officiating. Burial is at North Grove Cemetery, Celina. Contributions can be made to a fund being established for her grandchildren."
