Gale Brotherton

1938 - 2012 

Gale R. Brotherton, 73, Lima, died at 8:27 p.m. Jan. 7, 2012, at Community Healthcare Professionals Inpatient Hospice, Van Wert.

He was born Sept. 3, 1938, in Muncie, Ind., to James J. and Jessie Vera McClain Brotherton. On July 9, 1982, he married Ula Guall Brotherton, who died March 21, 2000.

Surviving are three children, Paul (Heather) Brotherton, St. Marys, Tina Hay, Celina, and Renee (Tony) Isbell, Greenville; three stepchildren, Raymond Brotherton, Findlay, David J. (Jamie M.) Beougher, Van Wert, and Debra (John) Melton, Bluffton; five siblings, Norval (Norma) Brotherton, Indiana, Bill (Betsy) Brotherton, New Haven, Ind., Steve Brotherton, Indiana, (twin brother) Dale Brotherton, Indiana, and Vera (Richard) Miyasato; former wife, Rose M. Brotherton, Celina; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Deceased are a sister, Phyllis Hendricks, and a granddaughter.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints. He was retired from Lost Creek Center and had worked at Celina Lumber Yard. He was a volunteer at Lima Memorial Hospital.

He was a U.S. Army veteran.

Services are 11 a.m. Friday at Lewis Eastside Chapel, Chiles-Laman Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, the Revs. David Woodruff and Brian Andersen officiating. Burial will follow at Mercer Memory Gardens, Celina.

My sympathy goes to Gale's family.  I remember him as a very quite gentle person at CHS.
